Goodbye Mr Coetzer! __________ Mr Coetzer started his teaching career in 1987. He was appointed as Deputy Principal of Laerskool Gustav Preller Primary School in 2011 and his dedication paid off when he became our Principal in 2016. Mr Coetzer’s personal motto was always: ‘Make a difference’ - which he did. He will be remembered as an extremely organized principal who put systems in place to ensure quality teaching and a well-structured work environment for the teachers. His love for teaching his favourite subject, Mathematics, will be remembered by all the children that he educated throughout his time as a teacher. His one regret when becoming a principal is well known by his staff – he couldn’t spend as much time as he would have liked with the learners of our school anymore. He valued a balanced education system, and the contribution that sport makes in developing a child holistically. He was an enthusiastic sport coach, which earned him the love and respect of many learners on the sport field. He always showed compassion to the learners in his care and took into account that many learners were less fortunate than others. We wish Mr Coetzer all of the best for the next phase in his life. We wish that he may enjoy more time to spend with his wife, children and grandchildren. May peace embrace him, favour enfold him and may God’s goodness and loving kindness be with him to enclose and protect him. Thank you, Mr Coetzer, for what you have meant to all of us at Laerskool Gustav Preller Primary. You will surely be missed! We welcome Mr Solomons as acting principal, who will be part of our Gusie-family until a permanent replacement has been made. We wish him all the best! |
About Our School __________ Laerskool Gustav Preller Primary School was established many decades ago and has deep roots in the community. Our roots remind us of the past, where we came from and how we have moved forward with positive growth. We pride ourselves on being one of the top schools in our district and we are constantly striving to develop our learners holistically, in order for them to reach their full potential. We encourage balance in all learners, by giving them the opportunity, to not only receive high quality education, but to also participate in many extra-mural activities. We offer a high standard academic programme for learners from Grade R to Grade 7, which is based on the CAPS Curriculum. We are currently a dual-medium school, offering Afrikaans and English as Language of Learning and Teaching (LOLT), but are in the process of becoming a full English school, in order to meet demand and give more learners in the community a chance to receive high quality education. We also have a well-established Aftercare Centre on the school grounds, which assist learners with homework and studying. Their methods are collaborative with those of the teaching staff at our school, supplying reinforcement of knowledge and skill. Our vision and mission co-exists with that of the National and Gauteng Department of Education and we strive to act in the best interest of our learners, by adhering to the established guidelines for quality, inclusive education. |
